For an AIOU examination day, the safest core checklist is simple: carry your current roll number slip/admit card and your original National Identity Card, and confirm that you are actually registered and eligible for the course before you leave home. AIOU says the roll slip includes your roll number, registration details, examination-centre address, and the date of the paper, and that students can print it from the AIOU Student CMS. The same official page also says students must bring their National Identity Cards to prove identity at the examination centre.

What to Take to the Examination Centre
Keep your exam-day file small and practical. Based on current official guidance, the essentials are:
- your printed or currently accessible roll number slip/admit card
- your original National Identity Card
- only the paper-specific items clearly required in your own exam instructions
AIOU’s current examination page confirms that the roll slip is the main document containing your exam-centre and paper details, and that your identity card is required for identity verification.
If you are in a programme where students may not yet have a CNIC, do not guess. Follow the wording on your own current admit card or contact AIOU before exam day.
Roll Number Slip and Identity Documents
Your roll number slip is not just a formality. According to AIOU, it contains the key details you need for the paper: roll number, registration, centre address, and the date on which the paper is held. If you have not received a slip or there is ambiguity in it, AIOU says you may contact the Deputy Controller Examination (Results) or your concerned Regional Office for a duplicate roll slip, and the same slip can also be printed from the Student CMS dashboard.
An older AIOU Help Desk FAQ also says that students are not allowed to enter the examination hall without the slip. Because that FAQ was posted in 2015, it is best used as supporting guidance, while your current CMS slip and current university instructions should take priority.

Arriving at the Exam Centre
AIOU’s current general examination page does not publish one universal 2026 reporting-time rule for all students. So the safest approach is to follow the time shown on your current roll slip/date sheet and leave enough travel time to reach the centre before the paper starts.
This matters because your centre is assigned by AIOU and shown on your slip. The official exam page explains that allocation of exam centres and issuance of roll number slips are handled by the Conduct Section.
If your centre is unfamiliar, check the address in advance and plan your route the night before. That is practical guidance, not an invented rule.
Items Allowed or Restricted
Be careful with blanket internet advice about calculators, phones, watches, or stationery. AIOU’s current general examination page does not publish a one-size-fits-all 2026 list covering every item for every paper. So do not copy a random prohibited-items list from old FAQs or third-party websites.
Use this safer rule instead:
- follow the instructions printed on your own current slip/admit card
- follow any programme-specific instructions issued by AIOU
- obey the invigilator or centre-superintendent instructions at the venue
AIOU itself says that where there is any contradiction or revision, the prevailing rules, regulations, and policies of the university will be final.
Wrong Course, Date or Centre Information
If your slip shows the wrong course, wrong date, missing paper, or the wrong centre, do not ignore it and do not assume it will be fixed automatically on exam day.
Start with your Student CMS and compare the details again. If the problem remains, contact AIOU immediately. For centre changes, AIOU’s general rule is strict: the university does not normally entertain requests for a change of examination centre except in exceptional circumstances, and students are told to apply at least one month before the commencement of examinations. AIOU also says students may apply for centre change through the CMS dashboard.
That means exam-centre correction is not normally an exam-day walk-in issue.

If your roll slip is missing, unclear, or has ambiguous details:
- log in to your AIOU Student CMS
- try to print the latest available roll slip
- contact your concerned Regional Office or the Deputy Controller Examination (Results)
