AIOU Degree and Certificate Verification Online

AIOU degree verification online guide

AIOU degree verification is the process used to confirm that a transcript, certificate, diploma or degree was genuinely issued by Allama Iqbal Open University. Students can request verification through AIOU’s verification process or through a CMS Student Service Request. This service is different from applying for a degree and different from HEC degree attestation.

For most applicants in Pakistan, the published verification fee is Rs.600 per document for normal verification and Rs.1,000 per document for same-day verification by hand. AIOU also publishes a USD100 per document verification fee for overseas cases.

AIOU Degree Verification Fee

AIOU currently publishes the following verification charges:

Verification type Published fee
Normal verification within Pakistan Rs.600 per document/copy
Same-day verification by hand Rs.1,000 per document/copy
Overseas verification USD100 per document/copy

For same-day verification, AIOU’s current FAQ says documents should be submitted at the main campus, Block No. 3, Department of Examinations before 11:00 am. Verified documents can then be collected after 3:00 pm the same day.

Because university fees and payment arrangements can change, use the amount and payment instructions generated by AIOU when submitting your request rather than relying on an old saved challan.

How to Apply for AIOU Degree Verification

AIOU describes two main ways for students to request degree or certificate verification.

Apply Through the AIOU CMS Portal

Students can submit an online service request through the AIOU enrollment/CMS portal.

Open the AIOU enrollment portal and sign in to your account. In Student Service Requests, choose the relevant verification service for your transcript, certificate, diploma or degree.

AIOU’s CMS guidance lists Verification of Transcript/Certificate/Diploma/Degree Fee among the available service-request options. After submitting the request, the system generates a fee challan. The applicant pays the fee and then uploads the challan copy to the existing service request for further processing.

Keep the service-request number because it can be useful when following correspondence or responding to an objection raised by the university.

Apply Through the Degree Verification System

AIOU also operates a dedicated degree-verification system for verification applications and case tracking.

Use the AIOU Verification System for the university’s verification service.

The verification process may require details such as your roll number, registration information, CNIC details, degree or certificate information and fee-payment record.

Follow the instructions shown on the official form carefully. Do not send documents based only on an old third-party form because AIOU may update its requirements.

Documents Required for Verification

AIOU’s published verification guidance says applicants should provide clear and readable copies of the relevant academic documents. Depending on the application route, the supporting material may include:

  • application or verification request
  • transcript, degree, diploma or certificate
  • CNIC information or copy
  • original fee receipt or paid challan evidence
  • roll number and registration details
  • other supporting documents requested for the particular case

AIOU’s Verification Section guidance specifically stresses that hard-copy documents must be clearly readable when a case is being processed through the postal/manual route.

If you are applying through CMS, follow the document-upload instructions displayed in your own service request.

Verification by Post

Applicants using the manual/postal procedure can send the required verification documents to the Examination Department.

AIOU’s published verification guidance identifies the responsible office as the Controller of Examinations / Examination Department and gives the verification address at Block No. 3, AIOU H-8, Islamabad.

Normal postal verification is not a same-day service. AIOU support material has published longer processing periods for postal and departmental cases, so applicants should use the online verification-status system instead of assuming a fixed delivery date.

Verification for Employers and Institutions

An employer, company or institution that needs to authenticate an AIOU qualification can also send a verification request to the university.

AIOU guidance says an institutional request should include an official letter, details of the employees or candidates concerned, relevant academic documents, CNIC information and the applicable verification fee. The request is handled by the Examination Department.

This route is useful when an employer wants the university itself to confirm that a submitted AIOU credential is genuine.

AIOU Degree Verification for Overseas Applicants

AIOU publishes a verification fee of USD100 per document/copy for overseas AIOU students. Verification cases may also be received from overseas agencies or offices.

Overseas applicants should follow the current instructions shown by the Verification Section rather than assuming that a Pakistan-based payment or postal procedure applies in exactly the same way.

How to Check AIOU Degree Verification Status

Degree verification cases should be followed through AIOU’s Verification Case Tracking service, not through the Degree Tracking System used for degree issuance cases.

Open the AIOU Verification Case Tracking portal and use the information requested by the portal to locate your case.

AIOU says the verification system can show whether a case has been received, verified, dispatched, remains pending or has an objection or other unresolved issue.

If an objection appears, provide the missing or corrected information requested by the university instead of submitting a duplicate application immediately.

AIOU Degree Verification Is Not the Same as Degree Tracking

This distinction matters.

Degree verification confirms whether an existing AIOU transcript, certificate, diploma or degree matches university records.

Degree tracking is used when you have applied for a certificate or degree and want to know the progress or location of that degree case.

AIOU’s FAQ identifies its Degree Tracking System as the service for checking the status of PRC, transcript, certificate and degree applications.

If you are waiting for an issued degree rather than trying to authenticate one you already have, use our AIOU Degree Tracking guide instead.

AIOU Verification vs HEC Degree Attestation

AIOU verification and HEC attestation are related but separate procedures.

AIOU verification HEC attestation
Confirms an AIOU credential against university records Attests eligible academic documents through HEC
Handled through AIOU Handled through HEC e-services
May be requested by a student, employer or institution Requires a separate HEC attestation application
Does not itself create HEC attestation May involve verification from the issuing university

HEC’s current Degree Attestation System works through a separate online application. HEC scrutinizes the application and, where required, sends the academic documents to the relevant university or higher education institution for verification before issuing the HEC e-Attestation Certificate.

So, an AIOU verification result should not be described as HEC attestation.

Applicants who specifically need HEC attestation should use the HEC Degree Attestation System guidance.

Which AIOU Service Should You Use?

If you already have your degree, certificate or transcript and someone needs AIOU to confirm it, use the AIOU verification process.

If you have applied for a degree and are waiting for it to be issued or dispatched, use AIOU Degree Tracking/DTS.

If you need formal attestation from the Higher Education Commission, complete the separate HEC attestation process.

Keeping these three services separate prevents the most common problem: submitting or tracking a verification request through the wrong portal.
