The current AIOU rechecking fee is Rs.700, Rs.800 or Rs.1,000 per course, depending on your programme level. Students can submit a rechecking request after paying the prescribed fee and completing the relevant application procedure. AIOU says both online and manual requests are available.
AIOU Rechecking Is Not Re-evaluation
This distinction matters before you pay the fee.
AIOU states that re-evaluation is not allowed under its rules. This means another examiner does not normally read your answers again and award fresh marks based on a new academic judgment.
During rechecking, AIOU verifies whether:
- all questions and parts of questions were checked;
- marks awarded on the answer script were properly accounted for;
- the total of the marks is correct.
Therefore, rechecking can identify an unchecked part or a totaling discrepancy, but it should not be treated as a fresh assessment of whether an examiner should have awarded more marks for a particular answer.
There is also no guarantee that your marks will increase. If no error is found, the existing result may remain unchanged.
AIOU Rechecking Fee 2026
AIOU currently publishes the following rechecking charges:
| Programme level | Rechecking fee |
|---|---|
| PTC, CT, ATTC, B.Ed, Matric, FA and Graduate programmes | Rs.700 per course |
| BS, MA, MSc, PGD and equivalent programmes | Rs.800 per course |
| MS, MPhil, PhD and equivalent programmes | Rs.1,000 per course |
These rates are published in AIOU’s current examination FAQs.
Older AIOU support pages and third-party articles may show a single Rs.600 or Rs.700 amount. Students should use the current programme-based fee published by AIOU rather than relying on an older figure.
AIOU also states that fees paid for services including rechecking of answer scripts are generally non-refundable, except where an excess payment is eligible for adjustment or refund under university rules.
How to Apply for AIOU Result Rechecking
Before applying, open your latest result in the AIOU CMS and confirm the exact course code and marks you want reviewed.
AIOU says a student who is dissatisfied with the result of a course may request rechecking by depositing the prescribed fee and completing the form provided by the university. The university provides both online and manual application options.
A practical process is:
- Check your result and course details. Note your registration or roll number, programme, semester and the exact course code.
- Open the official result-correction section. AIOU’s Downloads area currently lists a Result Revision Form and an Application Form for Rechecking of Answer Script.
- Choose the correct procedure. Do not use rechecking simply because any component of the result appears wrong. Some problems require result revision or another correction route.
- Generate or obtain the prescribed fee challan and pay the applicable fee for your programme.
- Complete the application carefully, particularly the course code, semester and student information.
- Submit the request through the available online route or according to the instructions on the official form and retain your challan and request details.
AIOU’s CMS support guidance also describes Re-checking of Answer Scripts as a Student Service Request. That guidance advises students to retain the service-request number and follow responses in the request thread.

Rechecking or Result Revision: Which One Do You Need?
Not every incorrect-looking result is a paper-rechecking case.
| Your problem | Appropriate route |
|---|---|
| A question or part may have been left unchecked | Answer-script rechecking |
| You suspect an error in totaling exam marks | Answer-script rechecking |
| You appeared in the exam but the result shows absent or the exam marks are missing | Result verification/revision |
| Assignment marks are missing | Regional Services / concerned Regional Office |
| Workshop marks are missing | Concerned Regional Office |
| A Face-to-Face course component is missing | Route the case through the respective academic department |
AIOU’s current FAQ says that when a student appeared in an examination but is shown absent, the matter should be sent to the Controller of Examinations for verification of the record and issuance of a corrected or revised result.
This is different from asking AIOU to check whether all parts of an answer script were marked.
What If Assignment Marks Are Missing?
Missing assignment marks are handled differently.
For ODL students, AIOU’s current FAQ says missing assignment, quiz or attendance marks should be taken to the Directorate of Regional Services. If the claim is valid, the case is forwarded to the Results Section for updating.
AIOU’s support guidance also tells students with missing assignment marks to contact their concerned Regional Office and provide proof of submission where available.
So, if your final paper marks are correct but your assignment component is missing, do not assume that ordinary paper rechecking is the right application.
What If Workshop Marks Are Missing?
Workshop-mark problems also have a separate route.
AIOU support guidance directs students with non-inclusion of workshop marks to their concerned Regional Office. The student may be asked to submit an application and evidence so the case can be forwarded for result revision.
For Face-to-Face programmes, AIOU’s current FAQ says ambiguity in any course component should be routed through the respective department.
The official material reviewed does not establish that the standard answer-script rechecking procedure automatically applies to practical work, projects or theses. For those components, use the relevant academic or examination channel rather than paying a paper-rechecking fee without confirmation.
Can Marks Increase After AIOU Rechecking?
They can change only if the checking process identifies a correctable discrepancy, such as an unchecked question or a totaling problem.
AIOU does not describe rechecking as an opportunity to persuade another examiner that an answer deserved a higher academic score. Re-evaluation itself is not permitted.
For that reason, avoid applying simply on the assumption that low marks must be increased.
Is There a Deadline for AIOU Rechecking?
A current universal 2026 deadline, such as 15 or 30 days after declaration of a result, is not stated on the official AIOU sources used for this guide.
Apply as soon as possible after identifying the issue and follow the instructions and validity dates shown on the current AIOU form or generated challan. Do not rely on an old deadline copied from an earlier semester or an unofficial website.
How to Check the Result After Rechecking
AIOU says its rechecking committee informs the student about the result of rechecking and the process after a request has been submitted.
You should also monitor your AIOU student record. The Examination Department states that examination results can be viewed and printed through the student’s CMS Portal, and the FAQ says students can open My Results and view individual course components.
Open the official AIOU CMS Portal
If you need help reading the updated academic record, see the AIOUTutor guide to the AIOU result card and the main results section.
The important point is to choose the remedy that matches the problem: use answer-script rechecking for unchecked parts or totaling concerns, result revision for incorrect examination records, and the appropriate Regional Office or academic department for missing assignment, workshop or other component marks.
