AIOU Degree Verification Online, Form & Fee

AIOU degree verification process guide

AIOU degree verification is the process used to authenticate a degree, certificate, diploma, transcript or other eligible credential already issued by Allama Iqbal Open University. Students can apply for verification manually or use the Degree and Certificate Verification service available through the AIOU CMS portal. Employers, institutions and overseas organizations can also request verification through the procedures published by AIOU.

This process should not be confused with applying for a new degree. If you have completed your programme but have not received the credential yet, see our Apply for Degree guide instead. Similarly, an application for issuance of a degree is tracked through Degree Case Tracking, while a verification request has its own Verification Case Tracking system. AIOU currently lists these as separate services.

How AIOU Degree Verification Works

Verification confirms an existing academic credential against AIOU’s examination records. It is useful when a student, employer, government department, educational institution or another organization needs confirmation that an AIOU credential is authentic.

AIOU’s Examinations Department handles these cases. Its published verification guidance identifies the Controller of Examinations and Additional Controller of Examinations as authorized officials for verification.

So, if you already have your degree or certificate and someone asks you to get it verified by AIOU, this is the appropriate process. It is different from requesting an original degree, obtaining a duplicate credential, correcting information on a degree, or checking when a newly requested degree will be issued.

Who Can Request Verification

AIOU’s published procedures cover several types of requesters.

Students: A student can request verification manually or generate an online Degree and Certificate Verification service request through the AIOU CMS Enrollment portal.

Employers and institutions: A company, department or institution can send credentials to AIOU for authentication. AIOU’s guidance refers specifically to verification cases received from departments and other organizations.

Overseas requesters: AIOU also has a fee and procedure for verification requested for overseas or foreign use. The requirements and charges differ from ordinary within-Pakistan verification.

Documents and Information Required

The exact information depends on how the verification request is submitted. AIOU’s verification guidance says readable hard copies of the relevant transcript, degree or certificate are required for mailed cases. It also refers to the application and original fee receipt.

The verification application may require information such as:

  • Student name and father’s name
  • Roll number and registration number
  • CNIC details
  • Programme
  • Degree, certificate, transcript or PRC details
  • Serial number of the credential, where applicable
  • Verification type
  • Fee/challan details
  • Postal or contact address

Make sure copies are clear and readable. AIOU specifically states that photocopies submitted for verification should be readable in all respects.

For an employer or institutional request, additional documentation may be required as explained below.

How to Apply for AIOU Degree Verification

There are two main routes documented by AIOU.

Apply Online Through CMS

Students can use the official AIOU CMS Enrollment portal and generate a service request for Degree and Certificate Verification. AIOU states that the instructions for creating the request are available through the student’s CMS Service Requests dashboard.

Open AIOU CMS Enrollment Portal

This is useful for students who already have access to their CMS account.

Apply Using the Verification Form

AIOU also supports manual verification. Follow the instructions on the official Degree/Certificate Verification Form, prepare the required credential and fee documents, and submit the case according to the instructions.

For postal cases, AIOU’s verification guidance gives the destination as the Controller of Examinations, Examinations Department, Block No. 3, Allama Iqbal Open University, H-8, Islamabad.

Use the current official form rather than an old form downloaded from an unofficial website.

By-Hand Verification

AIOU also publishes an urgent by-hand verification option. Its official guidance says urgent cases submitted with the applicable urgent fee before the specified morning cut-off can be verified the same day; cases received after the cut-off are handled the next day.

Because this service involves visiting the university and meeting submission requirements, take the required documents and fee evidence with you rather than relying on a screenshot or an incomplete application.

Current AIOU Degree Verification Fee

AIOU currently publishes separate verification charges for normal, urgent and overseas cases.

Verification type Published fee
Normal verification within Pakistan Rs. 600 per document
Urgent verification within Pakistan Rs. 1,000 per document
Overseas/foreign verification USD 100 per document

The official verification guidance lists Rs.600 as the normal within-country fee and Rs.1,000 as the urgent fee per copy/document. For overseas students, it lists USD100 per copy/document.

AIOU’s verification form also states a fee of USD100 per degree/certificate for foreign organizations, including USD25 courier charges.

Always check the current AIOU form or portal before depositing money because university fees can change.

Verification for Employers or Organizations

An employer, company, government department or educational institution may need to verify an applicant’s AIOU qualification directly.

AIOU’s published procedure for company/institution verification calls for a letter from the organization, a list of the employees whose credentials are being checked, attested degree copies, CNIC information and the applicable verification fee. The documents are then sent to the Examination Department for processing.

Organizations should provide enough information for AIOU to identify both the candidate and credential accurately. Sending an unclear degree copy or incomplete identifying information can make verification more difficult.

Do not confuse an organization’s request for AIOU verification with HEC attestation or another third party’s authentication process. An employer, university, embassy or other authority may impose additional requirements of its own.

Verification for Overseas or Foreign Organizations

AIOU specifically recognizes overseas verification cases. Its published guidance states that the verification fee for overseas AIOU students is USD100 per copy/document.

The official verification form separately states:

Foreign Organizations Degree Verification Fee: USD100 per degree/certificate, including USD25 for courier charges.

If your credential is required for immigration, admission, employment, professional licensing or another purpose abroad, first check what the receiving organization actually requires. AIOU verification authenticates the university credential, but that does not automatically mean it replaces HEC attestation, embassy legalization or another verification procedure required by the receiving authority.

Track an AIOU Verification Request

Degree verification requests should be checked through AIOU’s Verification Case Tracking system.

Track AIOU Verification Case

AIOU states that verification cases received from students, departments and overseas agencies/offices can appear in this system. The portal can show statuses associated with received, verified, unverified, dispatched, pending and resolved cases.

This distinction matters because DTS is Degree Case Tracking, not the primary tracking system for a verification application. AIOU’s current Examinations section lists Degree Case Tracking and Verification Case Tracking as separate services.

If you are waiting for a degree you applied for rather than verification of an existing credential, use our AIOU Degree Tracking guide instead.

Verification Application Has an Objection

A verification request may show an objection or deficiency rather than a completed verification status.

AIOU advises applicants to check the latest case status on the verification website. If an objection is shown, the applicant should clear the stated objection and send the required deficiency or supporting material to the university so the verification case can proceed.

Follow the objection shown against your actual case rather than assuming the reason. Do not submit unrelated documents simply because another student’s verification case required them.

If the issue is an error in the name or other information printed on your credential, verification may not be the process you need. In that situation, consult the relevant Degree Correction procedure. Similarly, students who have not yet obtained their credential should use the Apply for Degree process rather than submitting a verification request.
