AIOU Result Rechecking & Correction – Fee & Process

AIOU result rechecking and correction guide

If your AIOU result looks wrong, first identify what is actually wrong. A marks concern and an incorrect result record are not handled in exactly the same way.

AIOU allows students to request rechecking of an answer script, but its official guidance says this is not a fresh re-evaluation of the paper. Rechecking is intended to verify that questions and parts of questions were checked and that the awarded marks were totalled correctly.

If your result incorrectly shows Absent, a course result is missing, or another examination record appears wrong, you normally need the result correction or revision route instead.

Rechecking vs Result Correction

Use this table before submitting an application:

Situation Correct route
You believe final-exam marks or totaling may be incorrect Answer-script rechecking
You want your answers marked again by another examiner Re-evaluation is not offered
You appeared in the exam but result shows Absent Result verification/revision
Final exam marks are missing Result correction through Examination/Secrecy
Assignment, quiz or attendance marks are missing Regional Services/support route
Course or examination record is incorrect Result revision/correction

This distinction matters because paying a rechecking fee is not necessarily the right solution for every result problem.

How to Apply for AIOU Result Rechecking

AIOU says a student who is dissatisfied with the result of a course may apply for rechecking after depositing the prescribed fee and completing the required application. Both online and manual request options are mentioned in the official guidance.

For an online request, AIOU’s CMS Student Service Request guidance describes this process:

  1. Sign in to the AIOU CMS/Enrollment portal.
  2. Open Student Service Requests.
  3. Go to the option for Other Fee Challan/Invoice.
  4. Select Re-checking of Answer Scripts.
  5. Submit the service request with the required application details or attachments.
  6. Download the generated fee challan.
  7. Pay the prescribed rechecking fee.
  8. Return to the same service request and upload the paid challan copy.
  9. Keep the service request number so you can follow the case and view replies from AIOU officials.

Students should also see our AIOU CMS Portal guide if they need help reaching their student account.

AIOU’s Downloads section currently lists a Result Re-checking Form and an Application Form for Rechecking of Answer Script, so a manual form route also remains available.

How to Request AIOU Result Correction

Do not use ordinary marks rechecking when the real problem is an incorrect examination record.

For example, AIOU says that when a student appeared in an examination but is shown as Absent, possible causes can include an incorrect roll number or an answer script not being included in the award record. In such cases, the student is advised to request verification from the Controller of Examinations so that a correct or revised result can be issued.

AIOU also lists a separate Result Revision Form in its official Downloads section.

This means AIOU result correction and AIOU marks rechecking should not be treated as identical services.

If Final Exam Marks Are Missing

AIOU’s current FAQ gives more specific routing for missing marks.

If final examination marks are missing, the student should send an application to the Additional Controller Secrecy. The Results Section can update the marks if the Secrecy Section verifies them in the award list.

If Assignment, Quiz or Attendance Marks Are Missing

For students studying through ODL mode, missing assignment, quiz or attendance marks are handled differently. AIOU directs students to the Directorate of Regional Services, which checks the claim and sends a valid case to the Results Section for updating.

For face-to-face programmes, AIOU says cases involving an unclear or missing course component should be routed through the student’s relevant academic department.

So before submitting an AIOU result complaint, check which component is actually missing.

Current AIOU Rechecking Fee

AIOU’s official FAQ currently gives different rechecking fees according to programme level:

Programme Rechecking fee
PTC, CT, ATTC, B.Ed, Matric, FA and Graduate programmes Rs. 700 per course
BS, MA, MSc, PGD and equivalent Rs. 800 per course
MS, MPhil, PhD and equivalent Rs. 1,000 per course

These are per-course charges.

Students should generate or confirm the applicable challan through the official AIOU process rather than relying on an old fee figure found on a third-party website.

What Is the Deadline for AIOU Rechecking?

AIOU’s current general rechecking guidance explains the application procedure and fees, but it does not state one universal number of days that applies to every result-rechecking case.

For that reason, do not assume that an old 15-day, 30-day or 45-day rule applies to your result.

Apply as soon as you identify the issue and follow any deadline shown in the current examination notice, relevant form or CMS service request.

The 45-day rule sometimes seen in AIOU information relates to corrections in items such as a PRC, transcript, certificate or degree. It should not automatically be treated as the answer-script rechecking deadline.

Information to Keep Ready

The exact information required can depend on whether you are submitting a CMS request or using an official form. Before starting, keep the details needed to identify your case clearly:

  • registration or roll details
  • programme name
  • semester
  • affected course code
  • result or marks issue you want reviewed
  • relevant supporting document or screenshot where appropriate
  • paid fee challan for a fee-based rechecking request
  • CMS service request number after online submission

Be specific in your application. Instead of writing only “my result is wrong,” state whether the issue is marks rechecking, Absent status, missing final-exam marks, missing assignment marks or another record error.

How to Check Your Rechecking Request

If you apply through CMS Student Service Requests, keep the request number after submitting the case.

AIOU’s CMS guidance says students can use the same request thread to see responses from university officials and pursue their application. The paid challan should also be attached to the existing request when the service requires a fee.

Students having difficulty with the portal can use our AIOU CMS Portal guide. For a broader result check, see the AIOU Result and AIOU Result Card guides.

Result Still Incorrect After Your Request

If the issue remains unresolved, follow up using the existing CMS service request rather than immediately creating multiple applications for the same case.

For an examination-record problem such as an incorrect Absent status or missing final-exam marks, the relevant authority is within the Examination Department, including the Controller of Examinations or Secrecy/Results section according to the type of case.

You can also use AIOU’s official Help Desk for a support case when appropriate.

Keep your course code, semester, roll or registration information and previous request details ready so the university can identify the record being disputed.

What AIOU Rechecking Can and Cannot Change

This is the most important point if you are applying because you expected higher marks.

Rechecking can verify:

  • whether questions and parts of questions were checked
  • whether marks were recorded
  • whether the total contains a discrepancy

Rechecking does not mean:

  • the entire answer script will be academically re-evaluated
  • another examiner will necessarily reassess the quality of every answer
  • your marks will automatically increase
  • every failed result will change after rechecking

AIOU’s official FAQ specifically distinguishes rechecking from re-evaluation and states that re-evaluation is not allowed under the prescribed rules.

If your concern is instead that you were marked Absent, that an examination component is missing, or that the wrong information appears in your result record, use the applicable result revision or correction route rather than assuming ordinary rechecking will solve it.
